GOD
There are billions of sincere and honorable believers on our Earth, for faith can be something wondrous and empowering. Yet, despite all the love and understanding for the necessity of faith, world religions that are instrumentalized - politically, economically, socially, psychologically, militarily, through identity politics, or via the media - to fight one another cannot be part of a healing future for humanity in the 21st century.
Regardless of the paradigm we examine - be it the religious principle of reconnection (Latin: religare) or the realm of the unseen - what we perceive as God appears differently from every perspective.
However, as observers of these perspectives, we can say with certainty: God cannot be a merciful God.
What merciful God would allow global suffering, hunger, and war?
What merciful God will aid us in the face of climate change?
What merciful God will assist us in the just global redistribution of wealth?
Every individual is invited to understand themselves and nature - our very basis for life - holistically.
Necessary respect for the natural world can only be achieved through greater knowledge, clarity, and awareness.
This purposefully leads us to a profound ecological consciousness and thus to deeper respect for plants, fungi, animals, fellow human beings, and ourselves.
Only then will we realize that we are evolutionary miracles. For every plant, every fungus, every animal, and every person is unique and capable of inspiring awe.
No God will help us if we do not act ourselves.
It matters not whether we are God’s creatures or not.
